Chartered Governance Institute (CGI)

The Chartered Governance Institute was first founded as The Institute of Secretaries in 1891. Their purpose is to serve the interests of the developing profession of corporate secretaries. The Institute was granted a Royal Charter in 1902, and its mission of promoting 'effective and efficient governance and administration of commerce, industry, and public affairs' still guides their operations today. Unless exempted, all chartered members of the Institute are required to complete a minimum of 20 CPD hours annually. Members in public practise must complete and record 35 hours of CPD.
