General Optical Council (GOC)

General Optical Council is one of the 13 institutions known as health and social care authorities in the United Kingdom. By governing professionals, these organizations keep an eye on the social care and health fields. They currently register about 30,000 optometrists, dispensing opticians, students, and optical companies as the UK's regulator of the optical professions. To practice safely and efficiently throughout their careers, eye care professionals must keep up with the most recent knowledge and skills. To make sure this happens GOC has launched a mandatory continuing education and training (CET) program. All fully qualified optometrists and administering opticians must meet the CET requirement by law. CET program is a points-based program that spans three years. To remain on the registers, all fully qualified members must earn at least 36 hours of CET points and adhere to certain criteria by the end of each cycle. Through interactive CET, each Member must earn at least 18 points.
