Institute of Mathematics & its Applications

The Institute of Mathematics and its Applications( IMA) aims to advance mathematical knowledge and applications as well as to foster and improve mathematical culture throughout the UK and elsewhere. With a membership of about 5,000 mathematicians from all fields as well as those with an interest in mathematics, it is the specialist and mastered society for qualified and currently practicing mathematics. The Institute's mission includes Continuing Professional Development (CPD). All of the Institute's mathematicians are expected to uphold the standards necessary for membership grade admission. There are limitations on how many points can be claimed in each of the five areas specified and 50 points must be earned in order to pass the CPD year. To stay on the register, Chartered Scientists must participate in ongoing CPD.
