Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM)
Since its founding in 1995, the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) has been the professional organization working for and with medical physicists, engineers, and technologists. The Science, Research and Innovation Council and the Professional and Standards Council serve as the elected Board of Trustees that oversees the Institute. Both the Science Council and the Engineering Council have granted the Institute licenses to register Chartered Scientists, incorporated engineers, and engineering technologists. The Institute and its members' charitable goals and articles of association aim to advance public education in the field and the advancement of physics and engineering applied to medicine and biology for the benefit of the general public. By renewing their membership and registration each year, all IPEM members and RCT registrants certify that they are engaging in CPD and keeping a consistent and accurate record of their activities. Since CPD is required for registration, IPEM members who are members of the Science Council, Engineering Councils, and/ or RCT must keep a record of it in order to continue being registered.
