Institute of Physics (IOP)
A UK-based learned society and professional organization called the Institute of Physics( IOP) promotes physics research, implementation, and education. It was established in 1874 and has over 20,000 members worldwide. The Physical Society of the UK and Ireland, or IOP, supports physics in business, academia, and research. As a nominated body of the Engineering Council, the IOP also offers services to its members, such as career guidance and professional development, and bestows the professional designations of Chartered Engineer( CEng). 85 academic titles are published by the IOP Publishing Company, which is the publishing house for the organization. There are many continuing professional development( CPD) activities available from the IOP, but there are no minimum requirements. For revalidation, chartered physicists are required to submit a CPD record every three years.
